Toyota Engine Serial Number: A Guide to Identify Your Toyota's Engine

Over the years Perkins has produced hundreds of different engines and each can have many different variants. So how do you know the exact specification of your engine? All the information you need about your engine is included in the serial number on your engine plate, which you can use to find the parts to fit on your engine.

Toyota Engine Serial Number

The engine serial number is on a metal plate attached to the block, typically found on the left-hand side of the engine. The position of the engine plate varies across different engine series. You can find the position of your plate using the table below.

The minimum requirement to produce a result in the engine serial number search tool is the initial build list element, (2 to 4 letters followed by 4 or 5 numbers). Including the full entry of 15 or more digits will deliver the best results.

If you're a Toyota owner, you know that engine numbers are important. They can help you identify the model of your car and its specific engine type. That's why we've compiled a list of 137 engine codes for Toyota models, organized by fuel type. This way, you can easily look up your engine number to find out more about your car. We've gathered this information manually, so there may be some errors. However, we've attempted to be as accurate as possible. Be sure to verify the engine number by cross checking with other lookup services. With this list, you'll have all the information you need to understand your Toyota car better.

The Dynamic Force engine series introduced in 2017 has a partially different naming scheme. For instance, the two numbers between the first and second letters denotes the displacement of the engine. The rest of the naming scheme (such as the suffix) remains the same as with prior engines.

S&S serial numbers begin with the following manufacturing year codes. Year codes coincide with S&S Cycle's fiscal year, which starts October 1 of the previous calendar year. A product with serial number beginning with the letter "A" was manufactured in fiscal year 1978, between 10/1/1977 and 9/30/1978. "A" was reused in the year 2000.

General Decoding Information This topic can be somewhat confusing, especially with the amount of information available and the interpretation of it. The primary pieces of information you'll decode are the Engine Code and Partial VIN. You can decode the casting number. And you can check dates. The engine code and partial vin # will accurately nail down whatever the thing is rather quickly, and the other information will fall into line with that.

'Numbers Matching' This is my opinion, and the generally accepted norm: When people say 'It's numbers matching' - what they mean is the engine (or other component, i.e the transmission) can be MATCHED to the vehicle it was originally used in. This match is done via the PARTIAL VIN stamp on the component. The partial VIN will match the vehicles VIN. If it does - it's 'numbers matching', otherwise - it's not. done. end of story. Some folks use these terms loosely, or will say 'numbers correct' or something to that effect. But numbers correct is not numbers matching. Again, it either matches or it doesn't. If it doesn't match - is it correct? Numbers matching is important when you're trying to decode a Z28 or Super Sport where the VIN won't identify the vehicle as such. You need to decode the engine and see if it matches the vehicle, and if the code signifies Z28 or SS equipment. Lastly, in extreme cases, you'll want to verify the numbers stamped onto the component were the ones stamped into it originally and aren't restamped. The point of this article is to help you figure out how to decode stuff.

VIN Code Format The vin code format is stamped onto most engines. The format consists of divisional identification number, model year, assembly plant designation and vehicle serial or sequence number. In 68-69 model cars, the serial (VIN) number of the car the engine was installed in is stamped next to, or under the engine code ID. Starting in 1970, the serial number is stamped either above the oil filter, somewhere on the block pad (in front of the cylinder head), or on the transmission flange somewhere. Chevrolet issued technical service bulletins to indicate which engines were to recieve a vin stamp, so who knows what could have happend (or not happened).

Finding the right parts along with the authorized service dealer for your Kubota engine is easy if you have the serial number, along with the equipment application and the brand name. Having the engine serial number is also a powerful tool when using the Kubota service app. (It allows you to pinpoint which dealers can provide you service as well.)

All engines will have the serial number tag at the top of the valve cover. The engine model, serial number, engine part number and the bar code are all found on the sticker on top of the valve cover. We know that this sticker sometimes is hard to see or starts to wear off. All engines have the serial number stamped on the block as well. The serial number location on the block does vary by engine series. To find yours, locate your engine model and reference the illustrations and descriptions below.

The engine number is a helpful detail to have when you need to get your Toyota Tacoma serviced. Depending on the engine type, the location of the identification number varies by engine and model, but it will always be found on the engine block.

Since the defect is part of a known manufacturing error, not every vehicle affected by the recall will actually need an engine replacement. Toyota has announced that only around 250 vehicles in the recall group will actually get a new engine, but that dealers can only determine which ones by checking serial numbers on the engine blocks.

Yes, although you may not need one. You should schedule a time for your dealer to check the serial number of your engine block and determine if it is among the faulty batch. If it is not, you will not need service. If it is, the engine will be replaced free of charge.

There are two ways to determine the year your 604 was manufactured. The first way is to look at the numbers on the front of the block. These numbers are located on the Passenger side front, on a square pad on the deck surface. You'll want to look at the PO4 number. For instance a 2009 engine would say 9PO4, a 2006 engine would say 6P04, etc.

However, the most accurate way is to look at the serial number on the block, which is located on the drivers side, rear, on the extended part of the deck surface that goes over the bell housing area. The date code for the engine is built into the serial number after the first two numbers. As an example, a 2013 engine would read something like this, 1013426. The 13" designates it as a 2013 engine. Here are some more example.........1011390 is a 2011 engine, 1110900 is a 2010 engine, 05747 is a 2007 engine, etc.

GM has come full circle now on the PO4 numbers, so the first method alone is not entirely accurate. The first engines were stamped 4PO4, and the 2014 engines are stamped 4PO4. The difference in a 2004 engine and a 2014 engine serial number is as follows......Example: 2004 engine would be something like 06435, and a 2014 engine would be stamped T0614149.

The sticker also tells us what fuel type our forklift takes. If you have an older forklift and can't seem to locate the engine model or serial. You will most likely have to resort to calling your local provider.

Volvo is notorious for changing engine parts in the middle of production model years. When they do this, they make a notation in their parts catalog stating what engine serial number ranges a product fits: "Fits up to and including engine serial number -3082419" or "Fits from engine serial number 3082420- onwards" or similar.

Volvo doesn't make their engines in the same factory as their car bodies (indeed, they make car bodies around the world, including here in the US), so the engines are crated up at their factory in Sweden and sent in batches to a car body factory to be installed in to cars. Thus, the safest way to track different versions/revisions of parts on these engines is by the engine's serial number, which this guide will help you find and read.

If you can't read your engine serial sticker/stamping, or if you're not sure which number on the sticker/stamping is your engine serial, someone with an active VIDA subscription (such as your Volvo dealer or IPD customer service) can often look up your engine serial number from your car's VIN. So, if you can't figure out your engine serial from the guide below, give us a call!

For the Volvos of the 1990s to mid 2000s with the "white block" inline-four, -five, and -six cylinder engines, Volvo puts the engine serial number in two places: a sticker on the upper timing cover and a stamping on an engine block surface. It is very common for the sticker on the timing cover to be missing or damaged but the stamping on the engine block is always there.

Volvo began to use a special compact variation of their venerable "white block" inline-five engine in their P1 and P3 platform cars. These have somewhat trickier to read engine stickers showing the engine family and serial number, but they're still there and still important for things like different tensioners or water pumps past a certain engine serial number.

On the compact fives, the engine serial number sticker has moved to the lower timing cover, sitting just above the crankshaft pulley and just below the engine mount. It's difficult to see in place because it's right next to the frame rail, but can be seen with either the right-side (passenger in the US) engine mount removed or through the right-side wheel well with the plastic wheel well liner pulled up.

One of the engineering "tricks" used to make these engines fit transversely in engine bays was to move belt-driven accessories like the water pump, alternator, and A/C compressor from the end of the engine to the sides via relay shafts and gears, making the whole engine shorter since it no longer needs a crankshaft pulley to drive those accessories via belts. Without a crank pulley or belt drive, the end of the engine block is nice and flat, and the engine serial and part number stickers are in these locations: 2ff7e9595c
